Poem
I’m really out here, living the dream,
My whole family visiting me
But deep inside, I feel deceived
blind to the blessings I’ve (once) received.
It’s crazy how joy can come for free,
and crazier how fast i leave
a life that’s honest, true and pure
to chase the fleeting, the insecure.
nothing in this world is owed, everything i hold is loaned: the money resting in my name, my mother landing on that plane. yet i let the wonder wane.
i got everything i prayed for, so what more can i ask for? but my eyes are on the next thing, sleeping right on top the best thing, it’s like my mind always living in tomorrow, so today always feels like it’s borrowed.
that’s how you start to lose yourself, and with time, you also lose your wealth, ‘cause the money was never mines or yours, so put your faith into the lord.
So how do I keep myself in check,
From the morning to the time I go to bed?
Before I start mourning the times I was blessed.
To live a life that is true to what we believe yet we chase what is temporary or To live a life that’s true and pure Yet I chase the fleeting, the insecure.
Worldly pleasures that are temporary,
Nothing in this world is handed.
Everything is a gift that’s granted,
To the people with the right intention.
Because without it, you lose yourself,
And with time, you lose your wealth.
Because our money isn’t mine’s or yours
So how do I keep myself in check,
From the morning to the time I go to bed?
Before I start mourning the times I was blessed.
It comes down to how you see yourself,
We all have that intuition that can keep us away from hell.

Blinded by pleasures and worldly gains,
Temporary thrills that leave a stain.
Nothing here is handed, no, not at all,
Every gift is granted, a divine call.
To those with hearts of the right intention,
Without it, you face disconnection.
Lose yourself, and with time, your wealth,
For money’s not yours, nor is health.
So how do I stay grounded, keep my head?
From morning’s light to the time I’m in bed?
Before regret comes knocking, mourning the past,
The blessings I had, the ones that didn’t last.
It all comes down to how you see,
Yourself, your soul, your destiny.
We all have a voice, an inner guide,
To steer us away from the flames outside.
